The need for eye care personell is tremendous in developing countries.the maximum number of curable blinds of the world are in Asia.An opthalmic assistant can play a very important role in assisting a eye surgeon. They can do refraction ,dispense spectacle frames & glasses and also manufacture them, deal with contact lenses, equipments and instruments required in eye care and play a key role in eye banking. For a well ttrained opthalmic assistant only sky is the limit.They can help the nation along with opthalmologists to combat blindness.

Courses:

1.Diploma in Opthalmic assistant

Affiliation: This course is affiliated to Institute of Paramedical Technologgy, New Delhi.

Duration:1 year (Full time) and internship of 6 months (Full time)

Eligibility: 12th Arts, Commerce & science or equivalent or above. Age no restriction.

Medium of instruction: English

 

2.BSc Optometry

Affiliation:Vinayak Mission University, Tamil Nadu.

Duration: 3 years (Full time) and internship of 1 year (Full time)

Eligibility:12th Science or equivalent or above or Diploma in Opthalmic Assistant.

Medium of instruction: English

Practical & clinical knowledge will be given to the students in a full fledged eye hospital,satellite set ups and mobile eye clinic under the guidance of experts. An Appeal The students seeking admission to this course must be prepared for hardwork and intensive training.
